Lakota is a tribe. The French called them Sioux. They are still out there on the plains. They play lots of music, for lots of occasions.

Your antropology teached most likely played something with a steady drum beat and a chant.

If you find that interesting you will find a lot of it on Amazon. That beat is often used at Pow Wow gaterings for show dancing. It can be very repetitive, and it can put you in a "trance". A medicine man might use that steady beat to pray or to get ready for a vision. The word "trance" covers a wide range of mental states from light "meditation" or "dream" to deeper "vision". Although a trance induced by drum beats is not likely to harm you, it would be very unwise to listen to this type of music while driving. I listened to some Lakota chants while driving on the New Jersey Turnpike and I missed my exit by 10 miles. I forgot to get off. Not good.
Reply:lakota???
Reply:Yup, sounds like Lakota to me...
