Reply:Hi! Well I'm a Native American from ND and I think it's really nice you want a Native American name for your horse! Here's a few that I think would be nice:

Dakota (as someone else suggested) or Lakota (LAH-koe-tah)-both mean friend or ally, they are just different dialects.

Skuyawin or Skuyawi (SKOO-yah-wee)-both are pronounced the same way dispite the ending. This means sweet woman (female, girl, etc.). Or like my username means "sweet 1" I like to use numbers to mix it up! :)

Kinawin (kee-NAH-wee)-woman comes back to life. This probably doesn't have anything to do with your horse, unless she had a tough time being born, but I just love the way this sounds when you say it! Plus I know someone with this name!

Pe'hesapawi (PEH-hee-sah-pah-wee)- black-haired girl

Duza (DOO-zah) or Luza (LOO-zah) means fast, wi (wee) or win (wee) means girl, female, or woman, so if you put the 2 together you get duzawin which means fast girl.

Kamimila (Kah-mee-mee-lah) is butterfly! lol! Just another word that sounds so pretty! :)

I could go on and on, but I won't :P so I hope these help! The spellings might be a little different depending on who you talk to and where you look because Native language doesn't have words for many different things, only like descriptions, and the spelling of words is still pretty new, like within the last 30-50 years or so. My grandpa actually got to help put together one of the 1st Dakota/Lakota dictionaries! That was pretty cool! But I'm still learning, as well!
